Reflection
For the past week in my English class we have been writing a literary analysis on the literary devices used in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I examined the impact of irony and its relationship to human nature. Irony coveys human nature while using the opposite of what the situation is displaying. The three main points of my essay focus on verbal, situational, and dramatic irony. Verbal irony expresses the internal nature of the characters. Also, situational irony shows characteristics and some mannerisms of characters in To Kill a Mockingbird. Reactions and emotions of the characters are reflected by dramatic irony. I used irony as a literary device because it attributes to the portrayal of emotions and responses of the people in the story.
